David N. Saperstein is the United States Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom. He is a principal advisor to the President and Secretary of State and serves as the country’s chief diplomat on issues of religious freedom worldwide. He also heads the Office of International Religious Freedom in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor.

On November 17, 2016, Ambassador Saperstein spoke to an audience of students and scholars at Brigham Young University where he described the challenges facing his office. Before his lecture he sat down with Deseret News about America’s commitment to religious communities around the world.
